Looking Forward to a Brighter 2013

Tim BurnsTim Burns,
President and CEO

On behalf of all of us at Preco, I hope the coming year brings much happiness, peace and good health to you and your families. The recent, senseless and tragic event in Connecticut reminds us of how truly fragile our lives really are. Many of us go about our daily routines consumed by commitments, activities, meetings, and rushing about — until something suddenly happens that wakes us up to what’s really important — our family and friends. Fortunately, at least once a year, we take some time off to reflect, to be with those we care deeply about, and to send greetings and best wishes to those who mean so much to us.

I also want to take this opportunity as we begin a new year to thank you for your business and the opportunity to collaborate on so many exciting and new precision processing systems during the past year. As the world and technology grow more complex, we are finding more demand for total solutions where we bundle numerous pieces of equipment and manufacturing processes together to offer laser, flat bed and rotary die cutting, lamination, screen printing, material handling, slitting and more.

Our Contract Manufacturing Services also employed this bundled, total solutions approach many times during the past year, and many customers appreciated the efficient multi-step processing solutions we provided. Offering total solutions keeps us on the cutting edge for new product development and provides a very clear view of the horizon in terms of what customers might need in the future in terms of new equipment and processing features. We expect this demand for total solutions to continue to increase in the coming year. It’s always a challenge for us to “recap” the past year because so many of our accomplishments represent a market advantage for our customers — and we are careful to maintain the confidentiality and trust our customers expect. Nonetheless, it’s worth mentioning a few highlights. In 2012, Preco:

  • Opened our new Medical and Precision Converting (MPC) center in Hudson, Wisconsin that provides laser processing and die cutting services for the medical, packaging and converting industries in a controlled, clean room environment
  • Expanded our in-house laser capacity by offering systems with high-powered pulsed fiber lasers
  • Introduced the redesigned FlexPro® and enhanced the RT1000 micro tube cutting system
  • Is in the process of moving our Preco High Technology Systems company located in Tianjin, China to a larger and more efficient facility that will broaden our capability to serve the Asian market
  • Formed many new strategic partnerships in the past year and look forward to additional partnerships in 2013
  • Experienced especially strong sales activity in Europe and South America

Our success is due to our many talented and dedicated employees and to our many valued customers who manufacture and sell extraordinary products all over the world. May your new year bring financial success — and many more moments shared with your families, friends and loved ones.
